Documents to Prepare Before Meeting with the Bank
May 6, 20261 min read

One of the common reasons for delays in the mortgage process is a disorganized file. Here's what's worth preparing in advance.
Identity and personal status
- ID card + appendix, for all borrowers
- Marriage certificate / prenuptial agreement, if relevant
Income - salaried
- 3 recent pay slips
- Bank statements for the last 3-6 months
- Employer confirmation of tenure, if requested
Income - self-employed
- Most recent tax assessment
- Updated profit-and-loss statement
- Accountant's confirmation of income
- Business and personal account statements
Existing obligations
- Details of active loans
- Credit-data report (can be obtained through the Bank of Israel)
The property
- Purchase contract or memorandum of understanding
- Land registry extract / confirmation of rights
- Seller's details and account for transfer
Equity
- Documentation of the source of funds: savings, a gift from parents (with a gift letter), sale of an asset
One tip that saves time
Scan everything into one orderly digital folder by these categories. It sounds technical, but an organized file conveys reliability - and that affects the speed, and sometimes the terms too.
